Editorial Process

The submitted manuscript will be checked by an editor for its suitability with the Journal of Health Science and Policy (JHSP) focus and scope within two weeks. Staff will work with the author to fulfill all the requirements within two weeks. Every submitted manuscript which passes this step will then be checked for plagiarism by Turnitin. The manuscript will directly pass if the plagiarism is below 25%. But it needs to be revised if indicated for minor plagiarism (<35%) and will be rejected if indicated for major plagiarism (> 36%). Then, an editor-in-charge and an editorial assistant will be assigned for the manuscript. In this stage, the manuscript will be assessed based on novelty and adherence to guidelines. Subsequently, the manuscript will go through a peer-review process. The revisions may be required and will be re-evaluated by the editor-in-charge after the authors provide sufficient responses. The manuscript will be passed to the editor-in-chief for any further revision and ultimately will take an editorial decision. The accepted manuscript will be sent to copyediting stage for proofreading (such as correction of grammar and spelling errors, standardizing the journal in-house style, improving table, figure, and writing quality, etc). The incomplete revision of this stage will result in pending scheduled publication. Then, the manuscript will enter the production stage for typesetting. A pdf file is sent to the author for review and there should be no more scientific revision. A failure to comply will result in a delay in the publication since it needs editor confirmation for the changes. It will be scheduled for publication after the payment has been received. The final approval is needed from the corresponding author before it is published. To guarantee the quality, the manuscript submitted one of the editorial teams of the JHSP will be processed by other editorial board members who do not have any conflict of interest with the manuscript and follow the same editorial process. The Editors’ decision is final and no correspondence can be entered into concerning manuscripts considered unsuitable for publication in this journal. All correspondence, including notification of the Editor's decision and requests for revisions, will be sent by email.

Peer-review Process

All and every submitted manuscript (except editorial, commentary, and correspondence) in JHSP undergo double-blind peer review by at least two reviewers. All manuscripts are sent to, at least, two reviewers anonymously. Reviewers' comments are also sent anonymously to the corresponding author to take the necessary actions and responses. All the reviewers are subjected to submit their evaluation in not more than six weeks. JHSP staff ensures that the referee reports are complete. On some occasions, the review process needs more time to seek the appropriate reviewers.

Publication Frequencies

JHSP is published quarterly a year, in January, April, July, and October.

Publication Ethics

As an essential issue, publication ethics needs to be explained clearly to improve the quality of the research worldwide. In this part, it is important to explain the standard for editors, authors, and reviewers.

  1. JHSP strongly commits to following guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in facing all aspects of publication ethics and, in particular, how to handle cases of research and publication misconduct.
  2. All articles in this journal involving human subjects should respect principles of research ethics as described in the Declaration of Helsinki.
  3. In response to the second point, authors are also required to include an Ethical Clearance. Ethical clearance may also be issued by the Research Ethics Committee of the educational institution, including an ethical clearance number. A copy of the approval should be provided to the editorial journal as indicated above.

In this regard, publishers don’t have the right to interfere with the integrity of the content and only support publishing in a timely manner.
